CHILDHOOD
Mental disorders among children are described as serious changes in the way children typically learn, behave, or regulate their emotions, which lead to distress and problems getting through the day. Most often, the symptoms occur and are diagnosed when the child is of school-age.
Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) are conditions that affect how a brain develops and functions. They range from mild impairments, enabling those affected to live fairly normal lives, to severe disorders that require lifelong care. The onset of symptoms occurs in the developmental period i.e., by 18 years of age. Let us look at some of the prevalent NDDs in detail.
